Are you late?

World Environment Day was celebrated on June 5 and even though this post is a few days late, I hope we aren’t, for saving the planet. Let’s refresh our memories with a great photograph by Riya, a few facts and the most honest quote.

1.Ecosystem restoration contributes to the achievement of all 17 of the Sustainable Development Goals by their 2030 target date, including the elimination of poverty and hunger. (IRP, 2019)
2. Street trees provide a reduction of around 0.5 to 2.0° C in summer maximum air temperatures, benefiting at least 68 million people.  (MacDonald et al., 2016)
3. Ecosystem degradation can increase contact between humans and wildlife and has been linked to outbreaks of diseases. (HLPE, 2017)

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
—Margaret Mead

  1. I hope that we aren’t too late to save the environment too. Due to human activities, so many ecosystems are in the danger of collapse and many species are on the brink of extinction. A while ago, I had written a post about the little things that I do to be more eco-friendly. If everyone thought along the same lines and did their but to save the environment, the world would be a much better place indeed. The statistics are tragic. I hope that they don’t continue their downward spiral. We only have one home. If this is lost, then our future will be lost too
