Hopelessly Overdue Train

Gliding soundlessly through the bleak night
The haunted souls were weary of the lights
Their days were wakeful with the plights
Their nights sleepless with these barefoot strides

A beautiful oak with crumbling leaves
Had just begun shedding it’s might
Reminiscing passions that were bound to grieve
It rooted strongly for those benign delights

In this lane abundant with streetlight
It gave no shadow nor shade
It’s only company was the darkness
That was flooded with abandoned fates

Among this sat a creature so unnatural and pale
Clinging with all attempts to thrive
Waiting for an hopelessly overdue train to arrive
