You’re watching countless years packed into a few moments
You’re tired , stiff and there’s nothing to foment
These summaries now seem all wrong
These standards for the future are no longer strong
This parcel worn and tattered at it’s edges
Has to be returned because it no longer serves the pledges
Even if we turn back
We won’t end up where we started
Even if we follow a track
We won’t find the course we charted
Who knows if this is the real world or just a story
Glory has always been too gory
All I know is that a stalemate has been shaken
And a whirlpool long dormant has awaken

Exactly. ❤ Well-done

I’m amazed at your vocabulary and rhyming style. Any tip on how to learn new and useful words?
Your poem sounds like a battle scene from the losing side.

Thank you so much Lynh. Well, I don’t think my vocal is very vast but learning atleast three new words a day helps while reading books, newspapers etc. A poem that sounds like a battle scene from the losing side is definitely my favourite comment for sure.

Wow, great poem! Really sums up the current situation regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. No matter how much we re-open and try to “feel normal again”, things will never go back to the way they were. You have a great skill with words!
